| B'nai Mitzvah Preparation Schedule At A Glance |

Each Bar/Bat Mitzvah family will follow this basic schedule: Attend Shabbat services regularly. (Please arrive before 10 am.) You are required to be present for the Torah Service. This is essential to provide the highest level of comfort for your child on his/her Bar/Bat Mitzvah day. 12 months prior to Bar/Bat Mitzvah date: • Attend Family Program. • Begin work on Mitzvah Projects. 8 months prior to Bar/Bat Mitzvah date: • Call to arrange meeting with Rabbi Fish to occur six months prior to Bar/Bat Mitzvah. 6 months prior to Bar/Bat Mitzvah date: • Meet with Rabbi Fish for the 6 month family meeting. • Student begins weekly tutorial sessions. • Student begins practicing at home at least one-half hour (1/2 hour) per day. • Student begins working on D’var Torah. • All fees should be paid in full prior to this time. • Schedule six week family appointment, four meetings, and rehearsal with Rabbi. • Schedule meeting with office to speak about facility arrangements to occur 6 weeks prior to Bar/Bat Mitzvah. 6 weeks prior to Bar/Bat Mitzvah date: • Family will meet with Rabbi Fish for the 6 week family meeting. • Student begins to meet for four weeks with the Rabbi to prepare and rehearse for services. • Write an article for the Bulletin – due the 10th of the month prior to the month of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah. You need JavaScript enabled to view it 5 weeks prior to Bar/Bat Mitzvah date: • Have a rough draft of speech ready to bring to the Rabbi by five week meeting. • Rehearsal time should be confirmed with the Rabbi three weeks prior to Bar/Bat Mitzvah. 3 weeks prior to Bar/Bat Mitzvah date: • Return completed Honors Sheet to Rabbi Fish. See Appendix E. • Submit copy of Custom Prayer Booklet, if you are making one, to Rabbi Fish for approval. 1 week prior to Bar/Bat Mitzvah (*Please see Final Checklist in Appendix!) • Bar/Bat Mitzvah rehearsal. • Student leads afternoon T’fillah (service) at Navasky (for students of Navasky). • Bring custom service booklets and kippot to office |
